I’ve been playing guitar since 1983 and teaching since 1990. My goal is to help every student understand the instrument, develop real musical ability, and enjoy the journey.

Over the years, I’ve worked with thousands of students, many of whom became lifelong players. I grew up playing the music of Rush, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Queen, Stevie Wonder, Eagles, Motown artists, and many more. My musical experience ranges from rock and blues to classical, reggae, country, and soul.

I graduated from Musicians Institute in Hollywood in 1990 and later earned a BA in Philosophy from the University of London. That combination of music and philosophy has shaped the way I teach: clearly, patiently, and with an emphasis on understanding how everything fits together.

I’ve also studied in clinics and workshops with musicians including Les Paul, Allan Holdsworth, Eric Johnson, Albert Lee, Paul Gilbert, Joe Pass, Andy Summers, John Entwistle, Billy Sheehan, and Alan Parsons.

Since 2017, I’ve worked on original music with drummer Kenny Aronoff.
